About Emma
Hello! I'm a dedicated and experienced educator with a strong academic foundation in Math (BSc) and Finance (MSc), and over 13 years of professional experience in the financial sector. Currently, I live in Victoria, BC, where I’m also pursuing a 5-year degree in TCM — lifelong learning is a core part of who I am. I’ve worked with high school students at various levels with math, and I’ve helped students gain admission to top-tier universities like Oxford. I understand that every student learns differently, and I take pride in creating a calm, supportive, and structured learning environment. As a bilingual tutor (English and Mandarin), I can connect with a wide range of students and families, especially those from immigrant or multicultural backgrounds. I offer personalized, results-driven high school math tutoring for students seeking to build confidence, improve grades, and prepare for exams such as IB, AP, SAT, and provincial curriculums (e.g. BC Math). With a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, a Master’s in Finance, and over 13 years international companies' working experience and 5 years of professional tutoring experience, I bring both academic expertise and real-world application to my lessons. I've tutored students who have gone on to top universities — including Oxford — and I understand how to support both struggling and high-achieving students. My lessons are: Tailored to the student's level and learning style Focused on clarifying core concepts (algebra, functions, calculus, statistics, etc.) Built around active problem-solving and exam-style practice Designed to improve logical thinking, accuracy, and exam confidence I’m bilingual (English/中文), patient, and encouraging. I create a safe space for students to ask questions and make mistakes — because that’s how real learning happens.
