About Calvin
The sound of a finished chorus clicking into place is the sensory highlight of my career. Over 10 years of experience has shaped my view of how stories translate into successful songs.
My BFA Music Technology from NYU Steinhardt taught me that structure is just as important as the initial spark of inspiration. I have guided 173 students through the messy middle of the writing process, where most ideas usually stall. Breaking projects into manageable pieces turns the daunting task of writing into a sustainable habit. Watching working musicians and career switchers find their voice is the most enjoyable part of my job.

Providing feedback on your own tracks every week makes the growth process tangible and immediate. 173 students have used this method to move from vague concepts to fully realized songs. Developing a strong point of view and perspective is central to our work together. We explore rhyme schemes, meter, and harmony basics to ensure your lyrics carry the emotional weight you intended.
Genre conventions for pop, country, and folk provide a useful roadmap for our sessions. These skills help you navigate top-line writing with confidence while keeping your unique storytelling intact. My 10 years of experience ensures that every critique pushes your craft forward.
