About William
I'm a qualified teacher with a post-graduate diploma in education from UCL's Institute of Education, the teaching body ranked highest globally for Education in QS subject rankings. In 2020, I achieved 94% in a geography subject enhancement course at University of Sussex and am a Microsoft Certified Innovator Educator. I have years of teaching experience and have taught both geography in UK secondary schools and English as a foreign language teacher abroad.
My teaching specialism is geography, but I'm equally confident teaching Psychology (which I hold a degree in) and English (former English teacher, writer & proofreader).
I have taught a wide spectrum of students of all ages (kindergarten to retired!). This includes both high and low ability students and students with special educational needs.

Whether you would like to focus on knowledge acquisition, extended writing, exam technique, or subject-specific skills, I will have a teaching method to promote learning in a time-efficient way. My teaching is rooted in evidence-based practice, drawing from both cross-disciplinary educational research and subject-specific pedagogies. This includes memorisation techniques from the field of cognitive psychology, a range of assessment for learning strategies, and pedagogical techniques to elicit higher-order thinking skills.
At school, I achieved a raft of A's and A*'s, even getting 100% in some GCSE and A-Level exams. However, I knew that success in exams wasn't all down to hard work and knowledge retention. Exam technique is equally critical. I have now taught exam technique to students, passed AQA examiner training, and marked GCSE exams. I'd love to show you, or your child, how to achieve higher.
Whatever I teach you, I'll bring my enthusiasm and anecdotes from the fifty countries I've lived and travelled in, to help you understand the world a little bit better!
