About Sydney

A little about me, I graduated from UC Berkeley in 2018, then went on to earn graduate level credits in American Lit and Poetry from Harvard Extension. Notably, my writing has been retained and used as exemplars for the Harvard Extension School.
Although most dear to me, has been earning the "Loving Linguist" award from my former students. More recently, I have been working as a credentialed full-time HS English teacher for the past two years.

While I've worked in multiple roles within education ranging from tutor, to mentor, to classroom teacher, I truly believe all these experiences has helped shaped me to be a tutor who truly understands student needs at a variety of levels.

I have a lot of experience working with students who come from a
wide range of backgrounds and ability levels, ranging from non-sightedness to those with ADHD and ASD, and thus I will always work to apply those skills to our sessions if that applies to you.

I truly believe every student brings something special and unique to the table and that ultimately, everyone has the capability to find their home in academia.

As a tutor, you can expect me to be professional, inquisitive, punctual, and understanding. I believe that our learning relationship is built best on good communication and always centering the course on your needs and goals!

About the lesson

Greetings Scholar!

In our lessons we'll cover everything from compositional strategies, to literary analysis, research strategies, and the basics of college-level editing and proofreading, so you can feel mastery and confidence in your English skills.

If you are a high school student looking to delve into what makes great essays and explore close reading, to a college student looking to refine your prose and research skills, you've come to the right place.
We will always start with the basics, based on where you are at, and work up from there in a supportive, fun, and collaborative environment!
As a tutor, I believe in honoring the human condition, while pushing us to reach new heights and mastery.

- Secondary Level English (Middle/High School)
- College (English 101- Upper Division English)
