About Lissa
My name is Lissa, I am 26 years old and I have a BCOM degree in Finance. The past 3 years have been dedicated towards teaching others English as a second language, I also have a TEFL certificate that has helped make this possible. I am bold and creative in my classroom as I understand the complexity of learning the English language. Although it is an esteemed one, it also requires a lot of effort- from both the teacher and the student, hence the dynamic in my classroom being that of a mediator and a student, and not the traditional teacher. This creates more comfort for students in the classroom.

What I perceive to be a unique characteristic as a teacher, is my willingness to create a nurturing environment of kindness, compassion and mutual respect as the core communicate with children at a comfortable level to ensure their emotional and
psychological safety.
I am proficient in English, as well as a few other South African languages.
I pay attention to establishing strong relationships to help learning and growth, and investing time to understand the unique needs and personality of each child.
I allow children to make mistakes freely and provide timely guidance. I help them take risks, learn from mistakes and
cultivate resilience.
My teaching/students have previously mostly been children between the ages of 2 to 6, but I have also taught up to the age of 11 and I am fairly confident that I can work with adults as well.
I operate by adhering to the concept of "learning should be enjoyable" by creating a classroom full of laughter, creativity and passion - while making sure I always respect the uniqueness of each child.
I use a lot of teaching materials- props, songs, music, chants, reward systems, and games during lessons, to cater to the different interests the learners in my classroom might have.
