Lesson Plan: Understanding Fractions (60 minutes)
Objective:
Student will understand what fractions represent and be able to identify numerator/denominator, compare simple fractions, and solve basic fraction problems.

1. Warm-Up (5 minutes)
• Quick review: What is a whole number?
• Ask: “Have you seen fractions before? Where?”

2. Introduction to Fractions (10 minutes)
• Explain numerator and denominator.
• Use visual examples (pizza slices, chocolate bars, etc.).
• Show fractions like 1/2, 1/3, 1/4 with drawings.

3. Guided Practice (15 minutes)
• Student identifies fractions in simple diagrams.
• Practice reading fractions: 2/4, 3/6, 1/8.
• Compare easy fractions using visuals (e.g., which is bigger: 1/2 or 1/3?).
