About Yalda
As a Neuroscience student with a strong background in Biology, I aim to make learning engaging, accessible, and tailored to each student's needs.
My unique strength as a tutor is my ability to use visual learning techniques. Through my interest in art and crafts, I have developed strong diagrammatic and creative communication skills, which I use to transform complex biological processes into clear, memorable visuals. This approach is particularly effective for topics such as cell biology, genetics, physiology, and neuroscience, allowing students to better understand, retain, and apply their knowledge in examinations.
By combining scientific knowledge with creativity, I strive to create a supportive and interactive learning environment where students feel confident asking questions, developing critical thinking skills, and achieving their academic goals.

My tutoring approach focuses on identifying a student's current level of understanding, addressing knowledge gaps, and building confidence through active learning. Lessons begin with a brief assessment of the student's understanding of a topic, followed by clear explanations of key concepts using diagrams, flowcharts, and visual aids where appropriate.
Throughout the lesson, I regularly check understanding by asking students to explain concepts in their own words and apply their knowledge to questions of increasing difficulty. Once the core content has been covered, students practise exam-style questions to develop application skills and improve exam technique. Particular attention is given to understanding mark schemes, command words, and common misconceptions.
A key aspect of my teaching is the use of visual learning methods. I create diagrams, annotated illustrations, flowcharts, and colour-coded summaries to help students understand biological processes and relationships between concepts. This is particularly useful for topics such as cell biology, genetics, physiology, and neuroscience, where visual representations can improve understanding and retention.
Each lesson concludes with a summary of the key learning points and identification of areas requiring further practice, ensuring steady progress towards the student's academic goals.
