About Alisa

My experience in education is broad and varied, it has shaped me into a empathetic and attentive teacher with a solid methodological foundation. I’m great at connecting with people of all ages, making them feel comfortable and trust me on the lessons. I prioritize keeping students motivated, helping them through rough patches, and encouraging them not to give up. Kids and teens have described me as a safe adult who’s easy to be around, while adults appreciate the care and support I provide, making learning accessible.

My education:
- Novokuznetsk College of Arts, Russia (2014), specializing in piano performance.
- Moscow State Pedagogical University (2015-2020). Bachelor of Music and Education.
- I attended masterclasses by professors from Romania and Detroit, MI conservatories as part of the XI International Music Festival in Oravita, Romania (August 2018).
- Attended Penelope Roskell’s (Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance) online course ‘Teaching Healthy, Expressive Piano Technique’ (2024).
- Attended Berklee’s online courses: ‘Musicianship: Tensions, Harmonic Function, and Modal Interchange’ (2024), and ‘Piano Techniques for Modern Music’ (2024).

19 years of academic education might seem like enough to teach, but I keep up with self-learning, adding to my knowledge with courses, refining my methods in line with new research, educational trends, and my students' changing needs.

My teaching methods:
-my goal is to give you the tools to reach your piano goals quickly and confidently, so you can eventually build your own practice routine;
-I focus on physical comfort, helping you develop relaxed but strong hands. We work on customized exercises with different movement patterns that might come up in repertoire. I identify tension points to make playing easier and more natural;
-music theory is essential, but we approach it in a practical way—through exercises, songs, and even improvisation (yes, even if you’ve never tried it before);
-your repertoire is based on your interests from day one, adapted to your level. I’m happy to take your suggestions or recommend pieces for you; -you can learn on any instrument—a MIDI keyboard, digital or acoustic piano. If you need help choosing one, I’m happy to assist;
-I use Miro, Notion, and training apps to help organize lessons, review material, and make learning more interactive and efficient. Typical lesson plan includes warm-up, working on technique, a little of music theory. The rest depends on student's goals: it could be classical repertoire, songs or improvisation, working on composing.

My lessons for those, who:
- want to master the instrument from scratch;
- learned a long time ago and are giving themselves a second chance;
- are looking to improve their skills and organize their knowledge;
- already writing their own music but seeking more variety, depth, and a stronger theoretical foundation;
- feeling unsure of themselves, needing support, attention, and non-judgmental feedback.
*I know how tough and scary learning can be. I’ll do my best to be a support on this challenging journey, making it about joy, discovery, and pride in yourself!*
