About Samuel
Hi, I'm Samuel a passionate saxophone teacher. I love helping each student unlock their own unique sound and tailor lessons to fit your goals and learning style. I offer in-person and online lessons.
⋆100% grading exam student pass rate with all achieving merit - distinction level⋆
My Teaching Approach:
I tailor each lesson to suit your individual learning style and musical interests.
We’ll cover tone production, technique, ear training, improvisation, and reading — all at a pace that works for you.
You’ll receive personalised practice plans and guidance between lessons to ensure real progress.
What to Expect in Your First Lesson:
We’ll talk through your musical background, goals, and interests, then get hands-on with your instrument. I’ll guide you through some basics (or more advanced techniques, depending on your level), and we’ll map out a clear learning plan together.
Experience & Qualifications:
I have been a highly active performing musician for the past 20 years with national and international experience, appearing on prestigious stages such as Love Supreme Festival, The Queen Elizabeth Hall, Ronnie Scotts, The Royal Festival Hall, The London Jazz Festival, Bucharest Jazz Festival (Romania), B Flat Club (Berlin). For 10 of those years I was the primary saxophone tutor at Wimbledon College Saturday Music School, having helped my students achieve their own personal goals as well as up to grade 8 distinction level in ABRSM exams.
In my early years I was accepted and attended The Royal Academy of Music Junior Jazz department which gave me a huge head start in terms of advanced ensemble playing. I now help my students to acquire the skills to be accepted onto this course, of which multiple have been successfully accepted.
I also studied at the prestigious Trinity College of Music where I achieved my BmusHon degree and can help my students prepare exactly what they need for auditions to degree level.
I have been mentored from a young age by some of the greatest musicians and institutions in the world such as Jean Toussaint an american saxophonist known internationally in his own right and for being part of Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers. He taught me to reach higher levels of musicianship which I didn’t think was possible and now I can pass down these techniques and encourage my own students to do the same.
Another important mentor was Mornington Lockett who is internationally known and played with Ronnie Scott himself. He gave me the firm foundations I needed in my earliest years particularly regarding technical development and knowledge of harmony. Due to this I now have tried and tested methods to give my students the same foundations.
Having participated in the mentorship programme ‘Take Five’ by SERIOUS I have gained valuable insights regarding the struggles one might go through performing on any type of stage and can help my students overcome nervousness/stage fright.
My love for music has led me to create multiple albums achieving signings from Whirlwind Recordings, F-IRE presents, getting endorsed by Magic Reeds

My daughter had a saxophone lesson with Samuel last week, and she found it incredibly helpful. Samuel took the time to explain techniques for playing even scales and provided valuable corrections on the rhythms of some pieces. Overall, the lesson was fantastic and made a noticeable difference in her playing. I would highly recommend Samuel to anyone looking for a saxophone teacher.
Sam has been teaching our children for a number of years. He is always calm, patient, friendly and kind. He has a broad musical experience and is an excellent teacher. Our children enjoy their lessons and make a good progress. Sam gives detailed and constructive feedback which is helpful. With his help our son managed to pass his piano exams with distinction. We would highly recommend him.
Sam has taught Marco piano for many years…. He makes the lessons enjoyable and is patient and yet sufficiently challenging to ensure Marco’s skills have improved
He takes his time with you and is able to pick out where you need to improve and every week he leads me to perfection. He’s an amazing person and a great fun teacher who is more like a friend. I’ve had him for around 8 years now and he has been amazing throughout teaching me saxophone and piano and lots of help also in life challenges.
Samuel teaches my 9-year old son piano each week and has been doing so for the past year. He’s incredibly patient with him and creates a great learning environment. He’s super calm and engaging and my son responds really well to him, enjoying his weekly lessons very much! I would recommend him to anyone looking to learn a musical instrument.
Sam has been my son's piano teacher for several years, and his excellent, caring approach has made a tremendous impact.
My son always looks forward to his lessons and has grown significantly under Sam's expert guidance.
Sam has always been very flexible and helpful.
I absolutely would recommend Sam!Samuel has been giving me saxophone lessons for the past 7 to 8 months. I'm now quite good at playing scales and learning to improvise. He's been very patient with me and knows what's required to teach an older person like myself. He's been teaches my sons piano as well - he's been teaching my older son jazz piano for about 8 years. Overall, he doesn't just teach these musical instruments but he's also adept on passing on his jazz knowledge.
Sam’s been my teacher for 5-6 years and he’s really helped me improve a lot, like a LOT. He really helps get the basics right and makes the lessons interesting. Would recommend!
Sam’s a great musician and teacher. Lessons with him are always a good laugh and I’ve been taught by him for 4 years!
I've been learning with Sam for close to 10 years and he's an amazing tutor! Very chill, cool guy, always have a laugh at lessons and he's really great at explaining music, especially the technical parts which can get complicated. He's passionate about music, particularly jazz and I can't recommend him enough.
Samuel has been teaching me piano for a year and is a brilliant teacher! I would highly recommend him.
