About Joe
Swiggy makes music like he’s chasing something just out of reach, part memory, part prophecy. His sound draws from classic songwriting instincts but refuses to sit still inside them, restless in the way only the truly obsessed can be.
His musical education started early and unconventionally: violin under the Suzuki method in third grade, then saxophone through middle school band. By his teenage years, guitar and voice lessons rounded out the picture, an artist quietly assembling the tools long before he knew what he’d build with them. That range shows up in the music now, an ear trained across strings, winds, and voice that most songwriters never develop.
That foundation eventually led to Makeshift Gentlemen, the Saint Louis band whose 2008 record Casanova captured an artist still finding his voice. Since then, that voice has sharpened into something entirely his own, one that’s earned him an official selection at the Cannes Short Film Festival for a companion film to his upcoming work.
Based in Los Angeles, Swiggy is currently writing and recording new material, a body of work shaped by every instrument he’s picked up along the way.

I charge more because I am not just going to teach you guitar. Instruction and practice are important but they are not the entire picture. I will teach you how to write, create, and channel with intention. The guitar is only one tool you can use.
