Take my course because I bring more than 20 years of experience working in the arts, along with a patient, professional teaching approach that helps beginners build confidence step by step. As an award-winning portrait artist and active member of respected pastel organizations, I guide students through the fundamentals of drawing, design, color, and pastel technique in a clear, encouraging way. Mini Lesson Plan: Introduction to Pastel Portrait Drawing
New students will learn the basic steps for creating a realistic pastel portrait, beginning with simple facial proportions, light sketching, and blocking in major shapes. The lesson will introduce students to pastel materials, paper selection, basic color layering, blending techniques, and how to observe light and shadow on the face. Students will complete a small portrait study while learning how to build form, capture likeness, and create expressive features with confidence.
