About Maxwell
Over the past decade, I have had the privilege and opportunity to work with some of the top names in the South African music industry. I have mixed, mastered and recorded for the likes of LiduiDeep, Nqubheko Mbatha, Ntokozo Mbambo, Joyous Celebration, Xolani Sithole, Khaya Mthethwa, Infinite General and many, many more.
I have also scored radio and television ads for Dettol, Toyota, Coco-Cola, Pizza Perfect and Durex.
Perhaps my proudest achievement is that I have scored a number of films. Films that have showcased my work at many film festivals around the world, as well as being aired on television.
Because of my knowledge, skill and experience; I have taught and mentored countless students, ranging from high school and tertiary pupils to industry professionals. I have demystified the art of mixing and mastering for them, especially engineering students. I have helped students make sense of music theory and production. I have helped many learn how to play the piano and/or the guitar.
I have also been asked to teach a very rare skill: Sound Design and Frequency Modulation Synthesis.
Because of my mountains of knowledge, skill and experiences (as well as rare skills), I am invaluable in just about any production situation.

In my many years of teaching, I have found that people fail at a task because they do not understand the basic principles. My success and continued growth came from a firm understanding of music principles.
Therefore, my main aim is to make sure students understand the principles governing a certain skill or area of production.
For example: when I teach students how to mix, I make sure that they understand how are compressor works and why you would use a compressor.
Because of my love for teaching, I often make little videos for students; addressing their specific questions and concerns. In the same breath, I have learned that we all learn differently; so I have learned how customize my teaching style and pace, to suit any given situation.
