About Alison
Hello students. My name is Alison. The first question most students ask is why choose you as my tutor. I am a passionate, qualified, and caring teacher who will instill in you a genuine love and passion for learning. I believe in focusing on your individual needs, including your learning style. I have had students who have required either music in the background while they are learning or have asked for any study strategies that I may have. I am more than happy to accommodate students who need extra learning support during lessons, including fidget toys. I currently have one student who has to be chewing something during a lesson. Every student's method of learning is different. I ask my students for their own learning goals through the use of my What About Me worksheets at the beginning of your educational journey with me. Creative writing has to be one of my favorite areas of professional writing. I provide students with options to write from their own perspectives of their own lives or create an entirely fictional character to explore the story. This, in turn, helps you to build skills in both character development using your imagination.

I create an individual learning plan based on each student's individual needs, interests, and abilities. For students enrolled in school, I ask for two past report cards. I then conduct an educational assessment of each student based on the knowledge of their year level under the Australian curriculum 9.0. The learning plan is then created combining both the information from the report cards, the assessment conducted, and then formatted using the level of learning from the Australian curriculum 9.0. For the past twenty years, I have guided, inspired, and supported students in their educational journey. I have worked in both tutoring and teacher roles. All lessons are available online through Skype, lasting one or two hours. Lessons are fun, engaging, and educational within a positive learning environment where questions are encouraged and answered. I believe in a paper-based program, so all lessons will be sent for printing with a written plan per week in a term format. After each lesson, homework is provided to ensure that students feel confident in applying the skills learned in each lesson. However, if students struggle, then we will return to the previous lesson and revisit the lesson. Every two weeks, a mini quiz is conducted to ensure that students feel on track.

Alison has transformed my teenagers lives. After homeschooling my twins since Year 9 both have graduated with A's. We have yet to find out there ATAR score. However it has been a wonderful journey with Alison attending eight two hour lessons across English, Mathematics, Geography, Ancient and Modern History through Jubilee Distance Education. I would highly recommend anyone seeking to homeschool whilst they work. Alison has been the best decision we ever made. Her compassion and love for supporting my boys has been superb. Now they are ready for their next chapter. We recommend Alison to anyone facing that decision after my sins were previously traumatised by extensive bullying.
Alison, or Miss Alison, is a valuable extension of our family. We started with our eldest son who struggles with learning due to his ADD and Dyslexic diagnosis. My son refused to even try, but with Alison's kindness, he has started to gain confidence and flourish with participation in his classroom. He has, for the first time, started to enjoy reading. Through Alison's worksheets, he has discovered how a story builds on his imagination. His dyslexia is mild, but he does have difficulty with writing, including crossing the middle line. So he writes with both hands, meeting his brain's line on a page. My son now looks forward to every lesson particularly when he knows that they will work on a particular area he struggles with. His school results are showing improvement from E/D's to C/B's. Alison has a kind, patient demeanour which focuses on positive learning skills. Now my second daughter is having lessons with Alison in preparation for ACER exam to gain access to a scholarship. Alison has provided a learning plan so that all the areas are focused on including English, Mathematics, Thinking and Writing. My daughter needs support with reading comprehension including all the elements of poetry. We started studying for this in February 2024 with the exam in February 2025. I highly recommend Alison as a teacher and tutor. For any families seeking that teacher who will inspire their students to love learning then look no further. I have seen such a positive tramsformation in my students learning. My son has been through his Year 3 and Year 5 NAPLAN with Alison. For me personally it was not really high marks I was concerned about but how to support him as his stress levels esculate with any school assessment. Alison has provided strategies to make these assessments early including breathing techniques. So at presemt Alison attend our house eight hours per week - three two hour lessons for my daughters ATAR preparation and two one hour lessons for my son. Please employ Alison she will provide that support for your student. An individual learning approach based on your students needs.
Alison has been my daughter's tutor for the past three years. She started tutoring my Myra in Year 3. My daughter was struggling with English and Mathematics with her report card reflecting this. When I first contacted Alison I advised her that my long term goals were for my daughter to gain confidence in her own abilities, gain knowledge and understanding of English and Mathematics and gain entry to a private girl's school. Alison completed an assessment of my daughter's skills using an assessment form based on the Australian curriculum. She then created an educational plan with two hour lessons booked weekly. She also worked on supporting my daughter with her writing in the areas needed for her upcoming Naplan. My daughter had such confidence that she wrote her own story. She gained the top 5% of the state for her Naplan results. Which was solely due to the support from Alison. My daughter's report card reflected all of the tutoring support provided with Myra's report card showing after the first term. An increase in her report card for both Mathematics and English from a D to a B, With written confirmation from her teachers stating how much my daughter's confidence had grown. Myra used to receive one on one home tutoring but due to her sports commitments, this was becoming too hard to accommodate. My daughter then switched from an individual in home tutoring lesson to zoom lessons. Despite this change, my daughter continued to thrive in Alison's lessons. Due to the academic results, my daughter was offered an enrolment place at her private school. We are beyond grateful for all the support Alison has given our Myra. We would highly recommend Alison to anyone who is seeking a teacher who tutors. She has such a kind, loving and compassionate soul. I can see how passionate and genuine she is when discussing with her my daughter's needs. We are so grateful that we decided to employ Alison's services. Alison is very organised, reliable, dedicated, caring and passionate.
