About Todd
I'm a UT Austin graduate with a BA in French, including a semester at the Université de Poitiers and two years living in Paris. I previously tutored French at Austin Community College and am passionate about sharing French language and culture with students of all levels. My immersive experience in France allows me to teach not just grammar and vocabulary, but the cultural context and real-world communication skills that make learning French meaningful, practical and fun.

My Teaching Approach
After living in Paris for two years and earning my French degree, I bring real-world language experience to every lesson. Learning French should feel like preparing for an actual conversation in a Parisian café, not just memorizing vocabulary.
Teaching Method & Typical Lesson
I balance structured grammar with practical conversation, adapting to each student's learning style. Lessons might start with a warm-up conversation, then move into focused grammar or thematic content using authentic materials (music, films, articles, literature), and end with practical application like dialogues or composition.
What Sets Me Apart
I understand the specific challenges American English speakers face because I've been there myself. Becoming a fluent French speaker requires a level of cultural competence that I love sharing and that isn't available from textbooks.
