About Mia

I've been tutoring ever since I came out of high school and I love teaching and helping other students as it's a way of resonating with other students who are going through exactly what I've been through before. Being able to use what I learned in that process and help other students through that journey, seeing them progress and make huge improvements to not just their grades but also their mindset towards tackling hard problems or essays is incredibly rewarding!

About the lesson

Hi! My lessons are typically 1-2 hours long depending on what you are looking for and what is necessary. I've been a private tutor for a few years now with over 800+ hours under my belt, so I've well and truly developed my teaching style and techniques, working with many students of different learning styles and personalities.

I teach students from years 3 to 10 but am also more than happy to consider teaching VCE students with further discussion. I personally really enjoy group tutoring with 2-3 students as this makes for an engaging and collaborative environment where students can bounce off each other, however, private tutoring is always super beneficial who really want to focus on their own personal development of academic skills and studying technique.

As a student, you'll know exactly what each lesson will look like with a run sheet that I have up for each lesson that of course has flexibility to change depending on when your tests and assessments are or any particular areas of concern. I always make sure that the work we do isn't too repetitive and we don't spend too much time on one thing to keep lessons interesting and engaging.

Importantly, I think it's really important to get along with my students as this is core to making lessons enjoyable and a comfortable space to ask questions. As someone who's recently been through high school, I understand all the common struggles and frustrations with studying, having to learn things yourself or not quite having things taught in a way that makes sense. So I'm always open to feedback and will certainly relate to those struggles and more importantly, help with what not to do and what to do now that I've been through it all!
