About Erica
I have been through many challenges in my academic career and have benefited from mentors and tutors throughout.
I SEE my students as people first and take the time to lookout for clues of frustration that may lead to anxiety while we are working on a problem. One cannot work well if tired, hungry, sleepy, restless! In my virtual classrooms, we never spent more than 30 min in a row on work. We always have breaks.
I enjoy teaching/mentoring because the knowledge is there in all of us, it takes a team of student/teacher to make it bloom.

Method:
- I start with a consult of 30 - 45 minutes with the student to identify and address what they need help with and observer their learning/working style.
- My lesson plan is tailored to the student needs (homework help, extra problem practice, exam preparation, studying tips).
- I am comfortable teaching all ages from grade school to university level, as
- I had to "start from scratch" with Algebra 1 in community college and have mastered multivariable calculus/linear algebra and other techniques we use to understand the physics of our universe.
- As a non-traditional student, I have the unique perspective of having experience all types of higher education (community college, the UC system, private university).
-In addition, having had a late diagnosis of ADHD and test anxiety, I am extra empathic towards those who do not learn in the "cookie cutter" manner that our education expects. I have tricks/tips that have helped those from age 7 to 57!
