About Andy
I am fascinated by how the Universe works and I have had a wonderful, fulfilling career as a physics teacher for nearly 30 years. I still enjoy the opportunity to communicate my love for this subject through public speaking to astronomy societies, schools and children's organisations such as the scouts and cubs. Through tutoring I get the chance to offer my knowledge and experience as a teacher to enable my students to improve their understanding of physics whether to improve their chances of better grades in their studies or for the simple pleasure of improving their knowledge.

I have a proven track record of improving students' grades. For my lessons, I consider preparation to be essential, and all my lessons are tailored for individuals. I start with the very basics as a foundation. Then look to build on these ideas through experimental data and conclusions, mathematical relationships, real-world examples, sample question explanations and exam-style questions. At each stage there is support, time for self-reflection and questions. Ultimately my teaching is on understanding the physical processes we are studying and the connections to other areas in physics. My background. I have a first class degree and Ph.D. in Astronomy. I have taught physics and astrophysics at GCSE, A-level and Oxbridge for the past 27 years at schools in the UK. I have been a tutor for the past several years both using face-to-face and internet style lessons.
I record all my lessons on a digital whiteboard which is shared with the student.
