About Rachel

I am currently a university student with an ongoing bachelor’s degree in English with a concentration on Creative Writing. I host several blogs where I post unofficial works, edit novels of colleagues, and offer advice in a career as an author. I graduated high school with my diploma, along with two associate degrees; an associate of science and an associate of arts. As a university student, I have also accomplished up to the intermediate level of the German language and tutor a homeschool group once a week in my free time. I also have experience as an AVID tutor at two different middle schools, hired by the Board of Education, to aid teachers in integrating WICOR principles into their curriculum and helping students strengthen their critical thinking skills for multiple grade school curriculums.

About the lesson

My lessons can be for all ages, primarily from that of middle school to second year of university. My lesson plans are flexible for those who have prior knowledge in any of the curriculums I offer, but for beginners, I start with basic concepts. For teaching English grammar, I begin with basic sentence structure, parts of speech, punctuation, etc. Eventually leading to more complex sentence structures (i.e. Object complements, clauses, modal verbs, etc.) For German, I begin with basic vocab that can be applied to daily life. Integrating that grammar into syntax (i.e. Questions, commands, conjugations, tenses, etc.) and word order. This is up to the intermediate level, to which point the student should be able to uphold a conversation, read proficiently, and write in the German language. For creative writing, I offer techniques and critique on different styles, depending on the student’s preferences. I can also aid in publication options, marketing advice, and social networking ideas for those looking to make a publishing career out of their works.
