About Jaime
"I have over 8 years of experience teaching violin and helping students explore different musical traditions. I hold an Associate of Music in String Performance with a focus on Violin, which has strengthened my understanding of technique and musical expression. My teaching combines strong foundations with the creativity found in folk music.
I specialize in Nordic folk violin traditions including Norwegian Fiddle, Swedish Fiddle, and Klezmer music. I teach ornamentation, rhythmic bowing patterns, and ear-based learning to help students develop a natural musical feel. These skills allow students to play with more freedom and connect deeply with different styles.
I use folk jam tracks, drone tuners, and repertoire-based instruction to make lessons practical and engaging. I remember a student who struggled with rhythm at first, but practicing with folk tracks helped them improve timing and confidence. Seeing students connect with new sounds and traditions is one of the most rewarding parts of teaching.
I believe every student can develop their own voice through patient guidance and creative exploration. My lessons welcome beginners and experienced players who want to discover new musical styles. I would love to help you learn the violin through rich cultural sounds and traditions."

"My teaching approach focuses on helping violin students develop a natural and expressive vibrato that adds emotion to their playing. Lessons include vibrato development, controlling vibrato speed and width, hand flexibility, and applying vibrato for expressive phrasing. I teach students how to use vibrato as a musical tool rather than just a technical exercise.
I introduce vibrato through simple movements that build comfort, control, and confidence over time. For example, we practice slow exercises on long notes before using vibrato in melodies, which helps students create a smooth and relaxed sound. This method allows students to develop better control without creating tension.
I provide consistent feedback to help students understand how small changes can improve their tone and expression. Students learn how different vibrato choices can change the feeling of a piece and support the musical message. Each lesson is adjusted to match the student's ability and personal goals.
My goal is to help violinists create performances with more depth, warmth, and emotional connection. I support students in building a confident technique that feels natural and enjoyable. With regular practice and guidance, you can develop a beautiful vibrato and bring more feeling into every piece you play."
