About Matthew

I am a UK-qualified Architect (ARB RIBA III) with experience as an Architect, a Theatre Consultant, Set designer, and currently an Interior designer at Peter Mikic Studios, London. I've seen the construction industry from many sides, and worked at many different stages of construction. I think I have holistic view of the profession and I think that sets me apart from others. My time at Charles Barclay Architects has been particularly valuable for me where I've led several high-end, minimalist projects in London. About the lesson

Architecture is such a deep, rich, rewarding profession, but I'm all too aware that university can be extremely challenging and stressful. The right help at the right time can make a huge difference. My aim is to provide the advice and support you need to help you progress with your Architectural education and Career. From Undergraduate (part 1), through to masters (part 2), and finally passing your part 3 exams, I would be happy to help. Each lesson or workshop will be tailored specifically to your needs but typical topics I can help with include: 1. PORTFOLIO DEVELOPMENT / PROJECT DEVELOPMENT Review your design work and provide ideas, strategies, feedback to help develop the project. 2. CONSTRUCTION DETAILING AND TECHNOLOGY REVIEW Provide tutoring on the construction/technology detailing aspects of your design project or technology module 3. REPRESENTATION SKILLS Develop skills in hand drawings, model making, 2d montages, renders. 4. ESSAY WRITING AND DISSERTATION REVIEW Review and comment on essays and dissertations. Help develop the structure of dissertation if you're in the early stages. 5. CV, PERSONAL STATEMENT AND PORTFOLIO REVIEW Review your work or university application to help you find a job or secure a place at university. I can also assist with interview practice (mock interviews) and interview techniques. 6. PART 3 PROFESSIONAL EXAMINATION TUTORING Help prepare for your professional exams. This could be through reviewing course content, or undertaking mock interviews. I am patient and friendly and am happy to provide a free 20-minute session to help you decide if you like working with me.
