About Oscar
- I am a third-year history student at the University of Bristol
- Still being in education I am aware and sensitive to the pressures of deadlines and exams, and aim to help my students manage their work as much as I can, rather than adding to it.
- I target my student’s writing as I believe at GCSE and A level the key to a higher grade across most subjects is being able to show an ability to argue and vocalise one’s points effectively.
- I have worked with students of a range of ages, as well as many with ADHD and Dyslexia, and have found that the key to learning more is a desire and interest to do so. I aim to inspire this desire in my students while also driving them to achieve higher levels of writing and historical analysis.

My teaching method focuses on open discussion and analysis of my students’ work. I find that students better understand how they need to tackle their next question by working through essay questions together in a more relaxed environment. I have also found that students respond better to a tutor closer in age to them, with a more approachable tutor providing a sounding board for academic problems, historical or otherwise. Having achieved 100% in my History Coursework at A-level I can provide in-depth advice on source work and writing style that greatly helps my students’ writing across all subjects, not just history. My lessons also aim to push my students in the right direction outside of class through the use of other forms of media, providing tailored quizzes on apps such as Quizlet, or recommending relevant books, videos or series that may help them engage more in the content and fuel open discussion and interest. Through my hour-long lessons, I aim to provide students with the necessary skills to achieve at the highest levels of GCSE and A-level History, also setting them on course for further study.
