About Alice
I earned a B.S. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Rochester, where I developed a strong foundation in mathematics, statistics, and quantitative problem-solving. I also have experience working directly with students in educational settings, including teaching Chinese in a classroom and providing academic support through an expanded learning program.
In addition to mathematics, I completed a minor in Music and passed the ABRSM Grade 8 piano examination. My background across mathematics, language, and music has taught me how differently students can approach learning. I am patient, responsible, and committed to helping students understand challenging material while becoming more confident and independent learners.

My lessons are designed to be clear, structured, and adapted to each student’s needs. I usually begin by identifying the specific concepts or problem types a student is struggling with, then break them down into smaller, manageable steps. I focus on helping students understand why a method works rather than simply memorizing formulas.
A typical lesson may include reviewing key concepts, working through examples together, and then having the student solve similar problems independently with guidance when needed. I also pay attention to gaps in foundational skills, especially algebra, that may be making more advanced topics difficult.
I work with middle school, high school, and college students in Algebra, Precalculus, Calculus, and Statistics. My goal is to create a patient, low-pressure environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, strengthen their problem-solving skills, and become more confident working independently.
