About Mia

I am an Economics tutor with 6 years of experience and an MSc in Economics. I have taught over 195 students from A-Level through to postgraduate Economics. My postgraduate training covered both theoretical and empirical economics, which means I teach Economic theory with consistent attention to the evidence that supports, challenges, and delimits each theoretical claim — a perspective I believe produces more honest and more sophisticated economic thinking than purely theoretical instruction. Let me help you develop Economics understanding that is both theoretically rigorous and empirically grounded.

My Economics teaching connects theoretical economics to empirical evidence and real-world policy evaluation, developing students who can both reason within economic models and evaluate the models against real-world outcomes. I use randomized controlled trials and the broader empirical turn in economics as a teaching vehicle, introducing students to the specific evidence that has confirmed, modified, or overturned standard economic predictions, because this evidence-based approach develops the critical thinking about economic models that the most demanding examinations and university courses reward. Behavioral economics is integrated throughout my curriculum as a complement and corrective to the standard rational agent model, because students who understand both the standard model and the systematic deviations from it have a richer and more realistic economic framework than those who learn only the standard model. I teach development economics as a specific major application domain of economic theory, because the economics of poverty, growth, inequality, and institutions provides both the most significant real-world stakes for economic reasoning and the most demanding test of economic models. The economics of information — adverse selection, moral hazard, signaling, screening — is treated as a major microeconomic topic because these market failure types are extensively examined and genuinely important for understanding many real markets that the standard competitive model cannot explain. My Essay preparation addresses both the content quality and the argumentative structure of economics essays, because top Economics essays require both economic reasoning and the ability to construct, develop, and evaluate an argument in prose. My teaching goal is an Economics student who uses economic reasoning as a genuine analytical tool.
