About Thadeus

I've been singing all my life. I've had almost every kind of vocal training under the sun. When I was younger, I sang lead in an opera. Opera isn't really what I enjoy, but I did enjoy the experience. That is why I prefer to have as much fun with the music you love in my lessons.

My teaching method isn't like all the others, but it's very effective. Singing is about enjoying your voice and what you can do with it. Going into a deep understanding of the tools we use to sing. We take it step by step. Note by note, song by song so that when you hit that perfect pitch. The smile on your face will say it all. We like to have fun :)

  • When did you develop an interest in music and/or your favourite instrument?

My passion for music began at a very young age, as I developed a deep interest in the art form. I embarked on my musical journey by taking singing lessons from the age of 6. Those early experiences helped shape my appreciation for the power and expressiveness of the human voice.

Alongside my vocal training, I discovered a particular fondness for the piano. The instrument's ability to create such beautiful and captivating sounds unlike any other instrument fascinated me. The piano became my favorite instrument.
  • Is there a particular type of music or an artist that you could happily listen to on a loop?

While I have an appreciation for a wide range of music, there are two artists who have truly captured my attention with their remarkable voices and the exceptional music they create.

Jeremy Zucker and Jussie Smollett are two artists that have always stood out to me. Their extraordinary vocal abilities and the artistry they bring to their music have made a lasting impression on me. I find myself drawn to their unique styles, heartfelt lyrics, and the emotional depth they convey through their performances. They continue to inspire me as a singing and vocal coach, reminding me of the power of a captivating voice and the impact it can have on both the artist and the audience.
  • Explain to us the most difficult or 'riveting' lesson you could personally give to one of your students.

In a lesson, I might introduce the concept of vocal agility and work on developing the student's ability to navigate complex melodic runs, trills, and embellishments. This could involve practicing challenging vocal exercises and gradually increasing the difficulty level. I would emphasize the importance of precision, control, and accuracy while maintaining a balanced and healthy vocal technique.

I would encourage them to explore different musical styles and genres that require agility and flexibility in their vocal performance. I would provide guidance on how to approach difficult vocal passages, offering techniques to improve breath control, vocal placement, and articulation.

Throughout this process, I will support and motivate the student, pushing them beyond their comfort zone while ensuring they are not straining or risking vocal fatigue or injury. The focus would be on building the student's confidence and helping them realize their full vocal potential.

Overall, the goal of this challenging and riveting lesson would be to push the boundaries of the student's vocal abilities, broaden their skill set, and enable them to tackle more demanding vocal performances with control, artistry, and precision.
  • What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

The violin is one of the most difficult instruments to master. It requires precise finger placement, bowing technique, and control over intonation and tone production. Developing a good bowing arm, mastering vibrato, and playing in tune are just a few of the challenges that violinists face.
  • What are your keys to success (aside from do re mi fa sol ...)?

Consistent and focused practice is key to success in singing. Developing a solid foundation in vocal technique, including breath control, posture, resonance, articulation, pitch accuracy, and vocal range, is crucial.

Prioritizing warm-up exercises and maintaining vocal health through hydration and avoiding strain is important. Training your ear for pitch, rhythm, and musicality enhances intonation and harmonization.

Developing performance skills, stage presence, expression, and a connection with the lyrics and audience contribute to successful singing. Perseverance, a positive attitude, and maintaining a passion for singing are vital, understanding that progress may come at different rates. Embrace the joy of singing, seek continuous improvement, and celebrate your progress along the way.
  • Name three musicians you dream of meeting, and explain why.

Michael Bublé: He is a renowned and charismatic vocalist known for his smooth and soulful interpretations of classic pop and jazz standards. Meeting him would offer an opportunity to witness his captivating stage presence and learn from his expertise in performing timeless music.

Jussie Smollett: As a multifaceted artist, Jussie Smollett is known for his powerful voice and acting talent. Meeting him could provide insights into his unique artistic journey, allowing you to gain inspiration and an understanding of his musical and creative processes.

Jeremy Zucker: Jeremy Zucker is a talented singer-songwriter known for his introspective and heartfelt music. Meeting him would offer a chance to connect with his sincere lyrics and explore his approach to songwriting, potentially inspiring your own artistic endeavors.
  • Could you share an anecdote related to your musical journey or your student days?

The anecdote is simple, have fun. Your voice is an incredibly powerful instrument capable of evoking smiles or tears from others. Embrace this power and allow it to bring you joy each day, just as it has brought joy to me. Revel in the happiness that singing can bring and cherish the impact it has on both yourself and those who listen.
  • What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

I think what makes me a Superprof is my knack for employing diverse and enjoyable methods to achieve consistent results. The most important is to make sure my students are comfortable and having fun at all times, my reviews say it all.
