About Anca
Anca is a highly experienced Mathematics and Statistics tutor. She has a MSc in Mathematics (from King's College London), an MSc in Medical Statistics (from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine) and is due to finish her PhD in Biostatistics from King's College London this year (2023). Anca has been tutoring since 2014 and has extensive experience tutoring all levels (GCSE, A-Level, IB level, and University level) and all exam boards.
Anca has experience tutoring one-to-one but also with groups of students. Throughout Anca's PhD, she has been an assistant tutor for Introduction to Statistics, Causal Modelling and Evaluation, Multilevel and Longitudinal Modelling courses as part of the Applied Statistical Modelling & Health Informatics MSc. Anca's approach to tutoring is personalised to her students according to what works best for them. Anca has found that consistant practice and learning from mistakes (and not being scared to make them) will guarantee quick improvement in grades. Throughout this process, Anca can quickly find gaps in the student's knowledge and subsequently tailor questions with the aim to improve these areas before moving on to more difficult topics.
One of the reasons I believe students don't achieve their full potential in school is because of the fear of failure and the fear to speak up or answer a question in front of the whole class in case they make a mistake. One-to-one tuition solves this problem by creating a safe and non-judgmental space that invites and celebrates making mistakes, as making mistakes is a crucial part of learning and succeeding.
