About Tej

Throughout school, my mathematical ability has been important to me, and seeing the way the curriculum teaches mathematics has always disappointed me. There is a lack of emphasis on the uses of mathematics and understanding of mathematics. Students are taught mathematics as a process, like an algorithm to just do things, rather than understanding why and what they are actually doing. This is the primary reason why I'd want to help struggling students understand mathematics and see the beauty behind the subject so they can grow to love the subject, and if a student loves a subject they will always succeed.

About the lesson

I aim to explain mathematical concepts to ensure students understand the process before practising. I believe this is the most important to students grasping mathematics, as the way maths is taught now, there is very little emphasis on the understanding and more emphasis on doing excess amounts of questions. Although this is extremely helpful, I believe the understanding comes first. A typical lesson will be between 1-2 hours, and I can teach GCSE Mathematics, GCSE Further Mathematics and A-level Mathematics. I have experience as a Kumon Tutor teaching Mathematics and English, and as a Nominated Student to tutor GCSE mathematics and science students to help them achieve their potential at my school.
