About Ellen
Growing up, I was always fascinated by foreign languages. At age 13, I was accepted into a competitive summer program at Johns Hopkins University to study Ancient Greek, where we covered a semester of Uni-level Ancient Greek in 3 weeks. French was my first foreign language and remains my favorite. I received a 5 on the AP French exam and have experience with French poetry and literature in addition to a masterful command of the language––to the point where, when traveling in France, my family was asked how they knew me, because a rest stop worker thought me to be French.

I think languages are often made too stressful and too inaccessible. My goal is for students to have fun while focusing on building a strong foundation based in grammatical understanding and a comfortable command of vocabulary and idiomatic expressions. I began tutoring French as a freshman in high school and have accrued more than five years' experience teaching students age 2-20 with consistent results and visible progress with as soon as one lesson.
