About Zac
Hello, my name is Zac and I am studying Classics at the university of Oxford. I am passionate about all areas of humanities and this subject allows me to simultaneously study Literature, History and Philosophy. After school I decided that I wanted to take a year out and apply to university in my gap year. At Oxford I am also involved in lots of sport including Squash, Lacrosse and Real Tennis. I use techniques that I used myself at school and continue to use to this day to help my students improve - I have found long term planning, goal setting and breaking down my subject into manageable sections invaluable.
I have experience teaching Latin, Greek, Mathematics, History and English over a variety of levels ranging from KS3 to A-Level. I teach both over Skype and in person.
Initially, I talk to students about what they want to achieve from our sessions. A frank conversation about where they are currently and where they would like to be is essential.
After this we establish together a route by which we might achieve this depending on the areas of their subject they feel need work. Before each session, I ask students to think about the main aspects of what we are going to be studying and to note down where they think their weaknesses are. In the session themselves, we discuss that area and then back it up using examples. I ask students to complete more examples to consolidate their knowledge.
I also attempt to continually reintegrate material that we have previously studied. The subject needs to be viewed holistically and this is crucial for exams.

Zac is a very good tutor and I would strongly recommend him to any one looking to improve their mathematical brain. He helped me a great deal in geometry and quadratic equations. His help made me feel reassured and comfortable with concepts when it came to personal revision. These skills carried into the exam itself and resulted in a high grade. Once again, I would strongly recommend him as a tutor.
Zac taught me GCSE maths. He was engaging and incredibly clear in explaining concepts. He also walked through examples step by step, judging when he was able to speed up as well as when he needed to slow down.
