About Spencer
I'm a pretty easy-going guy with a bachelor's in Aerospace Engineering. Struggling with depression in my twenties and even now taught me some humility and granted me a new perspective when it comes to people and relationships. Everybody has struggles that they keep hidden, so I try to be patient with those around me. I can be socially awkward (but let's be honest, what engineer isn't?), but I enjoy laughing and having a good time.

Hello! While I don't have any formal training, I was always the friend that people came to with help on their math and science homework, so I have a lot of experience helping others understand material that may not be intuitive. My approach is based on making the subject relatable. Every person is different with unique interests and passions, so I try to incorporate those realities when explaining a topic. For example, let's say I'm working on math with someone who is really into sports. An example might be how does a cornerback from the weak side of a play where the opposing team's running back just got past the defensive end know what angle to take in order to chase down the ball carrier before he scores a touchdown? Believe it or not, he does some innate mental calculus involving the estimated changing rates of speed of his opponent in order to guess where the runner will be by the time he catches up. Or, maybe I'm working with a young lady that enjoys shopping. I might ask her which is the better deal, buy three, get one free, or 25% off? Algebra will help her understand that it's actually the same deal, just worded differently. People put effort into what they're passionate about, so it only makes sense to try and tie their passion into the tutoring session.
