About Alissa
In 2022 I volunteered at a children's center near me and was able to teach public speaking, acting, and drama to students with adverse backgrounds. This unlocked a passion and love for teaching. I then completed an advanced TEFL Level 5 diploma through i-to-i to ensure that I can continue teaching while completing my Bachelor's degree. In completing this diploma I was able to establish my professional methodology of patience, encouragement, and student-driven teaching. Since then I have been a part of a mentor program for students at my University and acted as a tutor for fellow psychology students. This, in conjunction with my advanced TEFL training, allows me to tutor and assist not only students of school age but adults as well.

I believe that a good tutor encourages their students to learn enthusiastically and with confidence. As a third-year Psychology student, I prioritize healthy progress and understand that no student will learn by the same method. Thus each student can expect customized classes, suited to their individual learning style, skill level, and needs. I am qualified to teach English as a second language, public speaking, and exam revision. As well as, preparing professional individuals for English presentations and guiding individuals to complete the IELTS examination successfully. A lesson schedule will begin with an introductory class where a student's needs, learning style, and concerns are addressed and discussed. This will inform future methodology, allowing the student agency in their education. Thereafter, online sessions of 60 minutes or 30 minutes will be scheduled in accordance with the student profile and schedule. I am fluent in Afrikaans and able to tutor and assist individuals of various ages and English levels.
