About Robin

I am a native English speaker and a Cambridge English graduate, with a professional background in senior leadership and communications. I have worked for many years in roles where clarity, precision and authority of language matter, particularly in complex professional and public-facing contexts. Alongside my executive career, I have long experience working one-to-one with adult learners for whom English is a second language. My particular focus is advanced refinement rather than basic instruction – helping proficient speakers develop greater confidence, accuracy and range through careful attention to vocabulary, grammar, register and nuance. My teaching style is calm, structured and discursive. Sessions are tailored to the individual and often draw on close reading, guided discussion and real examples from professional or cultural life. Where helpful, I use classic English literature and essays as a framework for developing linguistic sensitivity and expressive control. I work with a small number of clients at any one time and approach this as bespoke, professional coaching rather than classroom teaching. I do not offer beginner or school-level tuition.

About the lesson

I offer one-to-one advanced English coaching for proficient non-native professionals who already use English regularly and wish to refine precision, confidence and range. Lessons focus on vocabulary, grammar, register and nuance through guided discussion and close reading, including classic English literature where appropriate. Most sessions take place online, which works particularly well for advanced language discussion and close reading. In-person sessions in central London are available by arrangement for longer bookings. This is not beginner or school-level tuition, but bespoke, intellectually engaged work for adults operating at a high level in professional or cultural contexts. I am a Cambridge English graduate with a professional background in senior communications. Online sessions typically run for 45 minutes, with additional time set aside for reflection on progress and for discussing any writing or speaking work undertaken between sessions.
