About Jules

Hi, I'm Jules, I'm very recently 28, I'm a major and I do mean major theater lover by night and a screenwriter by trade although I've been studying the general ins and outs as well as tight facets of the English language for the better part of eleven years which I promise was a lot crazier to type than read. Irrespective of background, general knowledge and in some cases even an active dislike for English, I believe everyone has a voice, sometimes weighted down but unique with thoughts, opinions, perspectives and ideas that not only matter deeply to them but when listened to, carry material effects waiting to be divulged in a cogent fashion which I'm deeply adamant we need more of. Looking forward to meeting and working with you!

About the lesson

Since I was young, in fact probably before I have any tangible recollection, I've had a deep love of storytelling - in every respect; listening to, cognitively engaging with, creating the most complex narratives (from the mind of a 7-8 year old mind you) out of nothing more than my own muddled thoughts; and that passion followed me throughout childhood and a very murky adolescence to finally find a semi-permanent nesting place in the space of "mid-young" adulthood I currently reside. Studying education in undergrad and a consecutive professional writing degree in graduate school makes me sound about 10x fancier than I am but it gave me a foundation and material feel of not only what I wanted to write but which effect I wanted that writing to have, or in not as many words, an acute sense of what I wanted to say and more importantly, why I wanted to say it. It took a while admittedly to develop a voice and standpoint that maintained a certain level of distance from outside influences and sources but, the time I spent doing so was invaluable because it brought me to a place where I can confidently say that in the same way others guided me, I too can guide students to a space where they also can expand their respective scopes of knowledge and not only discover but shape their own individual points of view. *licensed to teach primarily grades 4-12 along with older adults interested in honing general language skills*
