About Aiden

I'm a dedicated and experienced math tutor with a strong background in competition math and advanced theoretical coursework. I love complex problem-solving and just the fascinating concepts that underlie a lot of mathematical principles. Beyond competitions I have completed university-level coursework, ranging from multivariable calculus, linear algebra, abstract algebra, to topics in combinatorics and number theory. I know what it feels like to struggle with difficult concepts, but I also know how to break them down in a way that actually makes sense. I want to bring a structured but also fun approach to every lesson, and I hope to see you soon!

About the lesson

I'd like to get to know my students not just on an academic level, but personally as well, because how a student learns is often shaped by who they are outside the classroom. I create a respectful environment, and I make sure my instructions are simple and easy to understand. I like to employ metaphors and easy memory tricks to help students understand the topics naturally. A typical lesson plan would include the following: -A quick warm-up to get the brain going, it could be solving some problems from the previous day or it could even just be a simple trivia game to have some fun -Short visual/real-world application that introduces the day's concept without getting into too formal terms yet -Working through some carefully chosen examples together to make sure the students really understand the topics -The student spends some time to solve some more problems on their own -A little reflection of what we accomplished during the session, and some time for me to assign some optional homework I like to tailor all of my lessons towards the individual learners, so chances are the lesson plans will change depending on the type of learner the student is. My lessons are designed for anyone in middle school up until the end of high school.
