About Kevin
My background is 15 years of technical training & 5 years teaching physics. My love of teaching started as a Teaching Assistant while studying for my masters. I was assigned to shadow a subgroup of struggling physics students; attend their lecture, takes notes and then hold a problem session separate from their class. The semester began with my group at the bottom of the curve. By the end of the semester, they were all getting As or Bs.

Interview the student to establish their goals and how I can partner to achieve them
Begin each session with a question addressing a fundamental concept (consistent with current class lecture)
Establish a procedure that will solve every problem: Sketch, free body diagram labeled with problem specs, identify the given quantity needed at the end. And finally ... simple equations representing the diagram.
Verify that the result makes sense in the diagram.
