About Mavi

I am an Actuarial Science Graduate from Heriot-Watt University, UK. I am a very enthusiastic, hardworking individual and a consistent performer, confident to use my own initiative to achieve goals. After acing O & A Levels with flying colors, I started my bachelor's. I scored an A grade in Mathematics in both O levels and A levels. Having attended schools in my city, I developed a passion for learning and my love for problem-solving and my curiosity culminated in my ultimate decision to study to join the actuarial profession. Mathematics ascertained that this is the subject that intrigued me the most as it contains numerical methods, practical applications, and analysis. As a mathematics student, I also have highly transferable skills, including the ability to work well in a team, strong analytical abilities, effectively manage my time, and an expert in problem-solving. As an actuarial student, I am able to use my mathematical skills to measure the probability and risk of future events and also predict their financial impact. My passion for spreading the knowledge to others and having teaching traits since high school always created an urge to teach. Therefore, I am seeking a challenging opportunity, where my skills and expertise can be further utilized and enhanced.

About the lesson

I prepare all the lectures and exercises beforehand. I expect to have a lively session with students where there is no hesitation in asking questions. I try to be very clear in my concepts and way of teaching and provide full attention during the session. I can repeat the topic until it is fully understood and provide homework and revision sheets. I started online teaching in 2020 and have been teaching students worldwide. So far, I have taught primary, secondary and high school students in Canada. Not only this, I have taught GSCE and IGSCE Pearson Edexcel O and A Levels, National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher Math to students in the UK, and primary Mathematics to student with Autism in France. I have taught statistics and higher statistics to S2-S6 students and university students. I have also taught other private international students various topics including higher-order derivatives, integration, correlation and linear regression, hypothesis testing, contingency tables, probability theorems and distributions, portfolio theory, finance and calculus-related topics. Not only this, but I also did a Math Teaching Internship at Cardinal Hume Catholic School in the summer of 2022 where I experienced in-person teaching and observed, planned, and taught Math lessons for KS3, KS4 and KS5 students. This opportunity gave me a rich and significant experience in teaching. During the internship, I learned teaching standards, principles of effective instruction, and various strategies for well-structured lessons and explaining concepts while considering the strengths and needs of all pupils and ensuring a good and safe learning environment. While working as a teacher, I witnessed visible progress in students’ abilities, and I could go home with a smile on my face and a real sense of pride. Because of the love and satisfaction, I got while helping others to understand Mathematics better, I could envision myself becoming an educator.
