About Shell
I firmly believe that it's extremely important to choose an acting Coach who works in the industry. I have worked as a SAG-AFTRA Actor for over thirty years. As an on-camera and voice-over talent, I have been fortunate to have worked with major names like TJ MAX, Best Buy, Health Partners, Target, and many, many more. My television and film credits include HBO's "Project Greenlight", ABC's "In an Instant", "American Monsters" on Prime and "I Was There" on the History Channel. This year, I played the lead role in "Murder at the Lighthouse" on Lifetime. Having spent the majority of my career in Minneapolis, I worked as a Resident Company Member of Dudley Riggs Brave New Workshop (the Twin Cities Second City) and taught all 5 levels of Improvisation. I performed at almost all the prominent theaters in MN- including the Guthrie. I was the Artistic Director and Youth Company Director (as well as the head Writer) for the MN Dance Collaborative and grew the company from one show a season to five! As the founder and Head Coach of Acting in Motion, I taught at both professional and competitive studies throughout the county. I have Emceed corporate events as well as National Dance Competitions. This seems like a lot about me but I hope this gives you insight into my diverse career, experience, training, and professionalism!

Hello! My name is Shell and I am a seasoned Theatre Artist and Teacher. I studied at Northern Michigan University and Miami University of Ohio and have been working professionally for over 30 years. My teaching methods, both for Actors and Dancers, are rooted in traditional Method Acting. I use my lessons to help students break down a character based on Intention, Obstacle, Tactics, and Super Objectives. I employ a variety of classic improvisation techniques to help students find the truth in a scene-using physicality, sense memory as well as helping discover the importance in exploring and understanding text. One thing that definitely sets me apart is my ability to create individual plans that are tailored- not only to the student and their level but to a specific project. Whether you are working on your auditioning skills for college entrance or a callback for a Netflix series, I can come up with a plan that suits your needs in real time and space. My 11 years as an Artistic Director and Youth Company Director for the MN Dance Collaborative have given me unique tools and experience in Talent Development!
