About Ivan
PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY
I am an International Professional Actor, Director, and Writer holding a Master of Arts (MA) in Acting from the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb, Croatia. Alongside my formal degree, I have continuously refined my craft through specialized international masterclasses and industry workshops led by world-class icons, including Tony Award-winning master physical actor Bill Irwin and legendary BAFTA-winning casting directors Kate Rhodes James and Francesco Vedovati.
My career began as a child actor in 1994, and I have worked continuously at the highest professional level since 2005. Over the last two decades, I have brought more than 70 roles to life across major national theatres, feature films, and television - ranging from classical and contemporary drama to major musicals and cabarets - alongside over 70 professional voice-acting credits for major international animated feature films.
Throughout my career, I have shared the stage with world-renowned classical icons like Rade Šerbedžija and Tony Award-winner David Shiner. Having directed 6 diverse professional theatrical productions—ranging from Shakespearean tragedy to contemporary musicals and cabarets—I have spent years sitting on both sides of the audition table. I know exactly what directors and casting panels look for when evaluating a performer's dramatic presence.
DRAMATIC COACHING EXPERIENCE
As a coach, I have worked across the entire spectrum of development:
• Mentoring drama school applicants through rigorous entry exam preparation
• Guiding high school students in drama studios to build foundational skills.
• Coaching professional actors working on specific film, TV, and stage roles.
• Training a principal mezzo-soprano for her highly celebrated, intensely physical title role performance in Bizet's Carmen at the Croatian National Theatre Ivan pl. Zajc.
(Note: You can read the full, verified recommendations from both Tony Award-winner David Shiner and Principal Mezzo-Soprano Ivana Srbljan in the recommendations section at the bottom of this profile.)

THE ACTIVE REHEARSAL: TRANSFORMING AUDITION PRESSURE INTO CREATIVE FREEDOM
Top drama school panels are not looking for a polished, finished product or a rehearsed, predictable performance. They sit through thousands of candidates delivering the same safe, mechanical lines. What panels actually crave is raw potential: emotional honesty, a dangerous imagination, and above all, trainability.
They want to see what happens when they throw an unexpected note at you. If you are stuck in your head clinging to a rigid plan, you will freeze. My studio operates as an active, collaborative rehearsal room. We dismantle the calculated plan of how to say a line or how to feel an emotion so your raw, natural instincts can take over and surprise the panel.
THE CORE PILLARS OF OUR AUDITION WORK:
- Commanding the Redirection: The audition isn't won on your first run; it’s won on how you handle adjustments. I train you to instantly drop your plan, stay fluid, and use a panel’s sudden, confusing, or contradictory notes as an immediate catalyst for a fresh performance.
- Responding to the Text, Not the Mirror: We stop choreographing gestures, planning facial expressions, or practising in front of a mirror or a mobile screen. You will learn to look at your contemporary, classical, or musical theatre piece and let the words hit you in real-time, making your delivery unpredictable, dangerous, and alive.
- Overcoming the Fear of Being "Wrong": I create a high-energy, radically creative space with zero pressure to give a "perfect" performance. By letting go of the need to be a "good student," you unlock the authentic, magnetic truth that makes a panel sit up.
- Directorial Insight on the Script: Sitting on both sides of the audition table has taught me exactly how panels evaluate presence. We will analyze your script's architecture together so you understand the scene's engine, ensuring your wild instincts always serve the story.
WHAT WE FOCUS ON:
- Mastering Diverse Repertoire: Applying this instinct-led approach across different genres and forms. We adapt the work to the specific demands of your material, whether you are tackling a contemporary play, a classical text, or a musical theatre song.
- The Psychology of the Audition Room: Building the deep, unshakeable confidence you need to command the physical space the moment you walk through the door under intense pressure.

I had the pleasure of working with Ivan in 2019 during the production of Carmen in Arena in Pula. His approach was clear, precise, and deeply supportive for me as an opera singer. What makes his work especially valuable is his understanding of music, musical structure, and the dramatic logic within the score. He knows how to connect acting with the vocal phrase, rhythm, text, and character, without ever separating stage expression from musical interpretation. Through his guidance, I developed greater authenticity, freedom, and dramatic clarity on stage. His ability to bridge theatre and opera makes him a valuable collaborator in developing stage presence, character work, and dramatic interpretation within a musical context.
I warmly recommend him for any artistic or educational work with opera singers and operatic performers."My first collaboration with Ivan was in the cabaret 'Joj Hrvati’ (Oh, Croats) which he directed. Starting at the audition process, working with Ivan was a truly valuable and unique experience. His systematic approach, empathy, room for creativity and mistakes, clear step-by-step guidance, and deep understanding of an actor's needs make it the perfect environment to learn and grow. I also gained a lot of practical advice that prooved valuable later in my own work, both as actress and director. Ivan truly understands the creative process from both sides of the stage, and his experience can serve as an amazing tool when developing a role."
Paola Slavica, actor/director
Working and preparing for the entrance exam at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb with Ivan Đuričić was a great privilege and brought me tremendous benefits. The preparation process helped me build confidence, learn how to manage my stage fright, and discover how to make performing any text enjoyable, regardless of the nature of the task. The guidance throughout the entire process was very clear, and it genuinely felt as if I were already attending my first year at the Academy itself.
The preparation work proved extremely valuable once I was admitted to the Academy. One of the most important aspects of studying there is finding a common language with your professors so that you can understand each other better. The Academy provides a great deal of guidance, and I found it much easier to understand and connect with those instructions because of the work I had already done during my preparations.
In my opinion, the preparation classes also built a very strong foundation for all the further physical training and the diverse specialized skills that we learn at the Academy. Every building will eventually collapse if its foundation is not properly built, and Ivan Đuričić is truly a master of creating that great foundation.Ivan has been a wind in my sales ever since we worked together as actors on my first professional play. His patience and persistence in delivering and expanding knowledge, especially while helping me prepare for my debut, has helped me greatly and I've continued to work with him as my coach ever since. His enthusiasm and love for the art of acting are infectious and they played a major role in facilitating my own enthusiasm and growth. Nothing but recommendations!!!
