About Lily

I’ve always loved history, though I struggled tremendously with it at GCSE - at year 10 I was only achieving a grade 3! However, my passion for the subject inspired me to aim higher than was predicted of me and I exceeded expectations by achieving a grade 8. Currently, I am studying A-level history, sociology and film studies and would love to pursue a degree in history, hopefully at Durham University.

About the lesson

Getting to know my students is extremely important to me, and I find that it helps me learn how best to help them; past papers may be the key to that grade 7-9, or it could be focusing on specific question structure, or a lack of knowledge could be the issue - which is an easy fix! I specialise in the AQA exam board specifically, but am familiar with other exam boards. Your first lesson with me would start with five to ten minutes of getting to know you - what grades you’re predicted, what your favourite part of history is and what you think you struggle with. We would then move on to have a look at the content you study, and specific areas you may struggle in, whether it’s structure or knowledge. Then we will conduct a plan together on how I can help you reach your full potential in history! Every lesson I will set an exam question that I expect to be done in exam conditions - then I will mark it and we will go over what went well and possible improvements in the next lesson! This will help improve both knowledge and structure, as well as timing. My lessons are only for GCSE students.
