About Patrick

A Little About Me
For more than 20 years, I ran my own business, Explanations Unlimited, helping people overcome their fear of numbers and make sense of the world of Accounting and Finance.
I was fortunate enough never to need to advertise. My business grew almost entirely through word of mouth — one client recommending me to another. Over the years, I’ve traveled the world helping people who once thought they were simply “not good with numbers” discover that they absolutely can be.

That’s what I love about teaching. It’s not about throwing formulas and financial jargon at people. It’s about finding a way of explaining things that makes sense to you.

I’m now doing this because I want to help more people turn “I hate numbers” into “Oh, I get it!” — and perhaps even learn to enjoy the fascinating world of financial statements along the way.

If I can take away the fear, build your confidence and make numbers feel manageable, then I’ve done my job.

About the lesson

Teaching Methodology - Finding a way of explaining things that makes sense to you.

We will start every session by agreeing on a clear objective, so we know exactly what we will achieve. Using practical case studies, real-world examples and straightforward explanations, I turn confusion into clarity and help you build genuine confidence with numbers.

With over 20,000 students taught, my approach has been successfully used with learners at all levels.

Lesson Length

Lessons typically run for 30–50 minutes, with 50 minutes being the absolute maximum. This keeps sessions focused, engaging and productive.

Qualifications & Experience

I’m an accountant with 20 years’ experience teaching Accounting and Finance, from foundational concepts through to undergraduate level. I’ve worked with a wide range of learners and am particularly focused on making numbers approachable, understandable and relevant.

Who Are the Lessons For?

My lessons are suitable for learners from age 15 through to adults and business leaders. I’ve helped everyone from school students taking their first steps with accounting to managing directors looking to build confidence working with numbers.
