My teaching methodology is to first tell the student how to solve the equation, then show them how to solve the equation, and then let them solve it themselves. The best way to study maths is to do maths so I feel that them completing the equations themselves enhancing learning and memory. I have various textbooks from my time throughout school which will have old examples to enhance the basic understanding of how to solve the problem, and more up to date questions which you would expect on the exam.
