About Jason

I have been working in software development for over 30 years. I have a degree in Applied Math from the University of Wisconsin and a certification as an AWS Solution Architect from Amazon. However, I am also a stage actor with over twenty plays on my resume. I savor the nuance of the spoken word and also the elegance of a well-written software solution. Having lived and worked across the globe I am well suited to understanding your current accent and culture. I can help you establish your goals and build a path for you to quickly gain confidence both inside and outside the office. I have spent some time in England, America, France, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, and India. Currently, I have students in Ukraine, Vietnam, and the United States.

About the lesson

My teaching method is very conversational. You learn to sound more accurate by speaking often and listening to the differences in how words are pronounced. The first session will involve us getting to know each other. We can determine your level of comfort with pronunciation and set goals for the class. From there we will read together and I will help you understand the correct emphasis of words, cadence, rhythm, and how to sound more like a native English speaker. A typical lesson plan will start with 20 minutes of general conversation. Then we will have a deep dive into a preselected topic so that we can discuss both popular culture and engineering terms. Finally, we will wrap up with any after-class reading or listening assignments and discuss the previous week's assignments for questions. I am a fairly rare tutor in that my degree is in Mathematics, however, I am also an accomplished stage actor. I have performed in 20 plays. I was born in England, grew up in the United States, and have spent time in India. So I am well suited to helping people hone exactly what level and type of accent they think is best suited to them.
