I focus on building a strong foundation in basics, such as hand positioning, note recognition, and simple rhythms, using interactive exercises and easy-to-follow instructions. My lessons are typically around 30-60 mins, keeping them short and effective to match the attention span of little kids (additional time may be requested).

I can also help students learn simple songs of their choice, making lessons more personalized and motivating. My lessons are perfect for super young children or adults who are just starting their musical journey for the very first time. If you want to learn a specific song of your choice, I’m here to help! Lessons should be fun and motivating by teaching songs students actually enjoy.

  • When did you first develop a passion for music and your favourite instrument?

To be completely honest, when I was about 4 years old I didn’t really care much about music or feel interested in it. But my mum persuaded me to take piano lessons, seeing her happy when I played ended up changing my whole perspective on music as I gradually grew to enjoy it :)
  • Is there a particular type music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

I love love love pop music, but I switch to jazz when I need to study
  • Explain to us the most difficult or 'riveting' lesson you could personally give to one of your students.

Probably the most difficult but actually fun lesson I’d teach is when a student wants to learn a piece that’s way outside their comfort zone. It can get pretty intense because there’s a lot going on with both hands, timing, and remembering everything. But it’s also kind of exciting seeing them slowly pull it together and realise they can play something they want.
  • What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

I think the violin is one of the hardest instruments to learn because you have to tune it yourself and get the pitch exactly right on your own, unlike piano where you can just sit down and play straight away.
  • What are your keys to success?

I try to stay consistent, practising regularly, and being patient with myself. Also try to enjoy the process of learning because I believe it helps improving so much easier.
  • Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.

I’d love to meet Frank Sinatra, Shigeru Umebayashi, and Lang Lang. Sinatra for his voice and stories, Umebayashi for his amazing film music compositions, and Lang Lang is a genius pianist talking to him about piano would be really inspiring.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your musical journey, or your days at 'music school'.

I remember when I got a distinction in my ABRSM exam, my mum treated me to a nice dinner because she was so proud. It was such a simple moment, but it really made me feel like all the hard work was worth it.
  • What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

I think the little things that make me a Superprof are really listening to my students and celebrating their progress. I also give a summary of what we covered after every lesson and a lesson plan for the next week, so they always know what to focus on.
