About Heinrich

Heinrich Zwahlen (aka Heinrich Wüste) was one of the first four certified Ableton trainers worldwide. He started out the Ableton and Native Instruments curricula at Dubspot NYC, which was the first official Ableton training nation wide.. He was designing the courses and bringing Live, NI Komplete and Maschine to the attention of a wider US public. His focus is on hands-on controllerism and workflow integration. Prior to becoming one of the primary educators at Dubspot in 07 he worked for over 25 years in electronic music production both as major label artist, composer, performer and engineer. Starting out musically as a guitarist/composer in Europe with the New Wave band Nasal Boys(CBS), he moved on to writing with synthesizers and sequencers in the early 80s pioneering live electronic music sets with a synthwave duo called Aboriginal Voices. He worked and collaborated with some of Europe’s electronic music pioneers (Dieter Meier of Yello and Gabi Delgado of DAF) before he moved to NYC through his work with HipHop legend Rammellzee. In his Canal Sound synth studio located in New York’s premier Graffiti Gallery he recorded with some of the main artists of the 80s downtown music scene (Marty Rev of Suicide, Stuart Argabright, Arto Lindsay) before working for several years with HipHop producer Sam Sever (3rd Bass/Downtown Science), specializing in sampling and synth production. He was a regular at the famous Paradise Garage House club and co-wrote songs with Timmy Regisford artist Billy. Soon he was signed as an Artist with Ten/Virgin (Soul2Soul/MaxiPriest) producing as Basscut with vocalist Elisa Burchett. By the early 90s Basscut topped the US/UK dance charts with mixes by Frankie Knuckles protege Satoshi Tomiie. In his 24-track recording studio he had major label clients throughout the 90s, recording HipHop, House, R&B or Electro (Groove Theory, PDiddy’s BadBoy Management, Mantronix) Later he also worked for JayZ, Curtis Mantronik, Sam Sever (Mowax), Coolio, Phebe Snow just to name a few, while continuing to write and perform live electronic music with Basscut in major NY clubs (Palladium/Limelight/Roxy/USA) and in Europe and also releasing tracks on Profile/Smile, Delicious Vinyl and Ultra as well as performing live in the cult movie Party Girl. After a 5-year stay in Berlin where he collaborated with Supa DJ Dimity of Deelite he returned to NYC in 07 to work as an educator for Dubspot. Heinrich now lives in Brooklyn and has resumed his collaboration with Basscut partner Elisa Burchett
