About Vasileios Stylianos
Ever since I was introduced to that tiny, elusive, invisible entity called the electron I was mesmerised. I must have been 13 and was starting to open the door to the wonderful world of physics and mathematics. From the outset I wanted to know everything about this negatively charged fiend that could morph into a positron and annihilate itself, interact with magnetic fields, power cities and drive engines amongst so many other things. Physics is in many ways justapplied mathematics – physics presents problems that can be framed and solved mathematically.
As a person, I am not your stereotypical geek glued to a computer screen. I consider myself affable, witty, ambitious, determined and disciplined while I consider humility to be my strongest characteristic. Sports-wise I have managed to reach a very high level in basketball playing for a team in a competitive league and I generally love sports; an avid chess player and I am always on for a game to test my wits and prowess; voluntary activities such as teaching young children basketball or computer programming instils great satisfaction and fulfilment. By nature, I am extremely inquisitive, interested in practically everything around me and so have a very open mind to new ideas, areas of knowledge, people, cultures and so on.

From a very young age I remember myself being at school and always feeling extremely happy when someone who was seeking help would come and ask me questions in order to solve any confusions. I just could spend my entire break time in order to explain whatever need just because I wanted to hear the sentence “Aaa I see/I got it, that makes sense.”. For me I couldn’t feel more proud than knowing something and being able to transfer it to someone else’s mind. I honestly believe that someone who is not capable of delivering his knowledge in simple words and sentences, does not know in depth what he’s trying to say. When we know something adequately I believe we must be able to explain it and make understandable to the others.
