About Mehak

Teaching is something that I have enjoyed for a very long time. I have had experience teaching children in primary school for their 11+ exams whilst working in a tutoring academy. In Year 12, I mentored groups of students in Maths and Further Maths after achieving an A* and an A^ myself respectively. They all went on to do very well in their final GCSEs and have given me amazing feedback for the sessions I hosted. I was also a STEM Coordinator for STEM Club. This role required me to plan sessions for each term, teach younger years about the science behind the experiments and create fun and educational projects. This role was unique and special to me as I had been a part of STEM club since year 7.

In medical school, I have taken up the opportunity to hold group study sessions which have been very successful throughout our many exams these past two years. Another venture I have been involved with recently is the Medic Mentoring Scheme where I am co-mentoring 4 first year medical students by providing them valuable resources and exam techniques. They have benefitted greatly from this as I have been keeping track of their progress and wellbeing. They have also really enjoyed having two people to come to and be there to ask questions.

About the lesson

Interactive student-led lessons that are tailored to improving both your weaknesses and strengths. I will definitely be gearing our lessons towards testing and reinforcing the knowledge learnt throughout the sessions. I will be using techniques such as active repetition and spaced learning to give you confidence in your knowledge whilst having fun!

My specialty is being able to break down complex topics into simpler formats using analogies, a wide variety of resources and patience. I am a hardworking student and an even harder working tutor as I strive towards approaching difficult topics with a positive mindset. I try my best to make sure that the students and I work together to tackle difficult subjects so that not only their confidence increases, but so does their knowledge!

What does my first session look like:
- Getting to know each other and finding which teaching style that suits you
- Talking through what you like and dislike about the subject
- What do you want from these sessions - is it building up from the basics? Focusing on areas of weakness? Testing and reinforcement?
- Making a plan for future sessions and setting achievable goals!
