About Ethan

Currently I'm 19 years old, studying Electrical and Electronic Engineering at University of Southampton. I graduated highschool at the age of 16 doing IGCSE and then went on to do Cambridge A-Levels at MCKL. Honestly, A-Levels wasn't easy at all for me and I definitely struggled at some points where even I had to take tuition for certain subjects. Most of my life studying, I didn't have the need to take tuition, especially for my sciences and maths which were my best subjects. This made me skeptical on how good tutoring is since I was only ever taught in big classes with many students.

However, when I finished 3 months of 1on1 tuition I learned that how well I connected to my tutor affected how much I learned from them overall. This was mostly due to the fact that I'm subconsciously more willing to listen to someone I find as a friend than just a teacher. I was then inspired to trying tutoring myself since I too am a student which you can easily relate to and also to make some side pocket money for my own hobbies/interests.

I'm pretty extraverted and outgoing when it comes to meeting new people so I do love talking and having fun with my friends. However, I also understand the importance of self-discipline and getting my priorities straight (like my studies) so I can maintain a balanced lifestyle.

Personally, I love casual gaming, binging shows on Netflix (Kdrama and Anime mostly) and playing the piano so if you share any of these interests, I feel it'll be much easier to connect and communicate with you on the same level. This will make for a more comfortable teaching and learning experience for both of us. Hey, I might even learn something new from you as well :D

About the lesson

I'm a pretty chill guy so my lessons can be very flexible depending on what you need. From helping you solve problems together step-by-step, explaining a concept that you need help with or giving a summary/crash course on topics that you don't want to waste time on (especially for those last minute students I can very relate to XD), anything is fine to me.

I would want to know beforehand what topics you want the lesson to cover so I can structure the lesson better and prepare material/exercises (if needed).

Unfortunately I have no official experience as a tutor other than helping out my friends and classmates with their homework so I'm looking to grow my experience here. You could say its a learning experience for both of us ;)

My lessons will be conducted in English mainly and will typically last an hour, it can be shortened to even 30mins if you just want a little help with some questions/homework.

Mainly my lessons will be catered to secondary students (Form 1-5) but primary students are also acceptable. Both SPM and IGCSE syllabus I am capable of teaching.
