About Ashlyne

I'm currently in my first year studying a Bachelor of Science (Occupational Therapy) (Honours) at Curtin University.

I graduated high school in 2024 as Proxime Accessit of my cohort, receiving a final ATAR of 98.5 and four Subject Duxes (Literature ATAR, Biology ATAR, Chemistry ATAR, and Health ATAR). I also received a SCSA Certificate of Distinction for all-rounder achievement in Year 11-12.

My favourite subjects in high school were Biology, Chemistry, and English, and I am eager to pass this passion on through my interactions with my students.

I have ample experience in individual and group tutoring for primary and lower high school students in Maths and English, and consistently received top scores in Maths, Science and English throughout Years 7-12.

Building relationships and focusing on the wellbeing of the whole student is something I take very seriously in my lessons - I believe 'good' grades are not a full measure of your success in school, rather, it is the lasting skills of perseverance, determination, resilience, and discipline which will stick with you for life and set you apart as a true problem-solver beyond algebra and chemical equations!

My ultimate goal is to support you in your unique high school journey, and offer you advice from my personal experiences to make studying more bearable, if not exponentially more enjoyable for you.

About the lesson

Lessons will be conducted online through Google Meet (typical length 1-2 hours, once a week during school terms and additionally holidays if requested). I offer remedial tutoring for Year 7-10 students who are struggling to keep up with content, as well as extension tutoring for high-achieving students. Lesson plans are tailored to match the student's school course outline. Students are encouraged to bring in homework or questions they have had difficulty with, and these will be worked through and explained at the start of every lesson. The predominant focus of each class will be covering the appropriate content to match their course outline for the week.

I understand that high school is an incredibly stressful experience for many, particularly with academics. My goal is to help ensure students fully understand content without feeling overwhelmed with the pace of classroom schedules, as well as to share advice from my personal experiences as a recent high school student myself. I seek to instill in every student the importance of having a balanced set of healthy study skills, which will improve their discipline and mindset towards both achieving their best academically and managing their time and stress well.

Lesson plans and content covered each week are flexible and highly tailored to each of my students' specific needs and priorities, such as upcoming test and exam preparation, or homework catchups. I believe independent practice is key to developing memory skills and strengthening foundations in solving problems, hence students are strongly encouraged to work on content in their own time apart from lessons. This also provides a key indicator of areas they find challenging and thus require more attention during our classes.
