About Oscar

I believe Maths and Physics to be some of the most interesting topics to study and want to share that interest, I have studied them all through my school career and am now pursuing a degree in physics. Teaching has been a big part of my journey, both in these subjects as well as in other areas such as sport, having taken external courses for climbing instruction. Personally I have had a tough time grasping some concepts and so I understand the struggle it can be, yet through my motto of “work smart not hard” I have managed to overcome this and achieve 3 A*s in my A levels (Maths, physics and history). With one to one sessions, I believe even the toughest concepts can become more simple, as they give the student time to really think about the material. Patience and practice develop deeper understanding and allow the student to flourish. Conventional teaching often doesn’t allow a student enough time to truly learn the material so my lessons are aimed at developing students deeper understanding of the content through explanations and practice together to build core knowledge they can carry with them. Further to this, in the lead up to exams I will run catered revision sessions which will go over the best ways to revise, enabling the student to achieve the very best, as I believe everyone can!

About the lesson

I believe in Student-led revision, through 30 minute to 2 hour sessions I aim to challenge the students deeper understanding of a topic through questioning and explanation, as well as going over practice questions in depth. This is to build the foundations for independent study giving the student the confidence to progress and take an active and deliberate role in their studies. I am a firm believer that anyone can achieve highly with patient tutelage and attention to weaker areas. Through my school career I have undertaken external tutoring courses in climbing and cadet instruction, further to this I have tutored friends and family. I am willing to help anyone up to GCSE level in Maths and Physics, (both subjects I have achieved A-level A* in). I will also run catered revision sessions for students to give them methods and techniques for effective revision in the run up to exams.
