About Taiga
As a first-year medical student in King's College London, I've gained personal knowledge about the medical school application journey -such as preparing for the UCAT and BMAT, writing the personal statement, attending interviews, and acing my A-levels. This first-hand experience has allowed me to understand where to find helpful resources such as past exam papers, which has been very effective for my revision. Sessions will be an hour (adjustable) and will take place online. I am able to teach: -Interview Practice -UCAT -A levels- Maths, Biology, Chemistry -GCSE- Physics, Maths, Biology, Chemistry My Qualifications: Interviews- Passed Queen Mary’s and King’s College London UCAT- 2910 Band 2 A levels- A* A* A A GCSE- 9 A*, 2 A FSMQ-A TEACHING METHODOLOGY For GCSE and A levels: I will first use the official specification to explain what the student will need to memorise/understand. I will utilise past questions to test the students’ knowledge, and then structure my lessons differently based on their understanding of the topic. For UCAT: I will change the structure of the lessons based on the understanding that the student has for the UCAT. If they have just started their revision, I will guide the students through the 5 main topics, and the questions that are most likely going to appear in their exam. If they are more experienced, I repeatedly set them questions, as going through questions is the most effective revision for UCAT. I will give tips and tricks for their timekeeping and improving on answering questions throughout these lessons For Interview Practice: I will first make the session a mock interview, which will allow me to understand how experienced they are in interviews. Using this information, I will cater the lessons to the students, testing them on different aspects on medicine where it may come up in their interviews. I will also use questions the university used to test me, and give advice on how the student can improve their interview answer.
