About Divanya

I am a 1st year Actuarial Science student at the University of Cape Town (UCT). I achieved 9 A's in my IEB final examinations, with a 94% in Core and Further Studies (AP) Mathematics. Here's a little story about why I want to tutor, and why I believe it is important: At the end of Grade 11, I had achieved a 60% for Afrikaans. I went for tutoring with someone who had a good understanding of the subject and a level of patience, to which through hard work, commitment and self-belief, I was able to finish my matric year with an 89% for Afrikaans. I understand the impact and importance of a tutor, and thus I want to instill that level of understanding and make the 'impossible' very possible.

About the lesson

I teach in English only. My expertise lies between Grades 8-12 in Mathematics, specialising in Algebra and Calculus. A typical lesson with me will consist of a thorough explanation on the topic at hand, demonstrations on how to tackle the problem, and the opportunity to practice problems independently, which we will go through together once completed. These practice problems will be provided by me, with questions that I believe will be at a satisfactory level which will solidify the understanding of the section, as well as prepare students for the type of questions expected in their examinations. Each student has a specialised lesson aimed towards improving the topics which they struggle the most with. My end goal for students is to better their understanding and equip them with the skills needed to excel in their examinations. My patience, understanding and desire to see my students succeed makes my teaching style unique and will allow me to accommodate different types of students who possess different needs.
